Auf Arno Schmidts Spuren, Bargfeld, 13.05.2012

Nach einem Nachmittag in der eigentümlichen, zauberhaften Landschaft der Lüneburger Heide, im „Heiligen Hain“ bei Betzhorn, kehre ich nach Bargfeld zurück. Vor der Einkehr gehe ich noch einmal zum Haus von Arno Schmidt, werde von der Abendsonne hinaus gelockt in die Felder, auf die sie dramatische Schattenrisse zeichnet und mich unwillkürlich die Kamera zücken lässt.

There I am watching Tarkovsky’s Stalker again, the first time in years. Next day arrives an e-mail from Eva and Franco Mattes aka 0100101110101101.ORG, announcing Plan C, a journey to Chernobyl by six artists who barely knew each other, but have in common an obsession for Tarkovsky’s 1979 movie. Feels like someone forgot to throw a nut, and now space and time are collapsing. „Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more…“

Welcome Dinner

The day after my arrival in São Paulo my new working group, the Grupo de Pesquisa em Políticas Públicas para o Acesso à Informação (Gpopai) welcomed me with a dinner. Open Access in physics, vegetarianism, right wing tendencies in the animal rights movement and, of course, copyright were among the topics discussed.

Tux on the fly

IMG_1201Shortly before my KLM 747 landed in São Paulo yesterday the in-flight entertainment system crashed. And re-booted. And up comes not what you would have expected but a friendly Tux. No Flying-Bluescreen but free software above the skies.
